Important to remember: Microsoft 365 Business Premium remains unchanged at €19.06 per user/month. As a result, this licence continues to be an attractive option for many SMEs, especially when security, identity, and device management are important.

Not just a price update: also extra functionality

The price update isn't coming out of nowhere. Microsoft will also be adding extra AI, security, and management functionalities to various Microsoft 365 subscriptions in 2026.

• More possibilities around Copilot Chat, including enhancements and analytics.
• Extra email storage for Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions.
• Better protection against harmful links for Business Basic and Business Standard.
• Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 voor Office 365 E3 en Microsoft 365 E3.
• Extra Intune functionality for Microsoft 365 E3.
• Additional security and management functionalities for Microsoft 365 E5, including Microsoft Security Copilot.

The new capabilities will be rolled out in phases. Various security and management features will become available from June 2026 and should be rolled out by August 2026.

The conclusion? Don't just look at the price, but primarily at the total value of your licence. Some subscriptions are becoming more expensive, but at the same time are gaining extra functionalities that may be relevant to your organisation.

Copilot Business promotions also extended

In addition to the new fixed Copilot bundles, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business will also remain temporarily available as a discounted standalone offering. The suggested retail price is €18.20 per user/month. This promotion is extended until 31 December 2026 and applies to organisations with 1 to 300 users, with an annual commitment and annual invoicing.

This makes it interesting for organisations that want to test Copilot in phases or add it to an existing Microsoft 365 Business license. Nevertheless, it remains important to compare carefully: in many cases, a bundle is more advantageous than a combination of individual products.

What does this mean specifically for your organisation?

The correct Microsoft 365 licence depends on more than just price. Also consider:

• how many employees effectively need desktop apps;
• which users mainly work on mobile or via web apps;
• which security and management functionalities are necessary;
• is being gradually rolled out.;
• when renewing your current licences;
• or annual invoicing is more interesting than monthly payments.

Heavier isn't always better. Sometimes switching to a better-fitting licence can deliver more value at a lower cost.
