The answer to that question is of course No! Digital transformation is not a part number on a supplier’s price list. On the contrary, the change process associated with this transformation is dominated by the so-called ‘human factors’. Such as the need for a clear vision of the future. Clear communication about the objectives and the underlying strategy. Commitment from all those involved and the associated internal support. And very importantly: consistent role modelling from the board and management.
I firmly believe that IT solutions are a key part of a successful transformation process. However, I also believe that the actual contribution of IT to the success of your project is less than 50%.
Below, I set out a number of questions that, in my view, the management board of every organisation should ask themselves in the context of transformation projects:
- Do we understand what digital transformation entails and why it is so important?
- Are we willing and motivated to change?
- Do we know what we want to change? Do we have a clear vision and strategy?
- Are we willing and able to continually set a good example?
- What is the investment in digital transformation and what does it yield for us?
- And what happens if the project fails? Or if we do nothing at all?
I would love it if you could join us there. So that we can learn from each other. And become better together.
I look forward to your visit!
